Sherbrooke dates to the City's earliest land boom in 1906. Sherbrooke was one of the first in NorthAmerica to be designed using the "neighbourhood" concept, which discourages traffic and ishighlighted by attractive curving streets. In the 1950s, Sherbrooke was cited by the American Societyof Planning Officials as a model of good design. Two thirds of residences are single-familyhomes and a high proportion of residents are older than 50 years.
